Carlyon Beach is located at the very end of Steamboat Island Road and just South of Hope Island. It is one of the larger neighborhoods in Thurston County. Being majority of Carlyon Beach is built on a slope, many homes for sale enjoy a view of Puget Sound and the Squaxin Passage. Carlyon Beach Park is a private community park located on the water’s edge. Some of the amenities include a boat launch, marina and a picnic area. Due to the poor soil in the Carlyon Beach area each individual parcel must have a septic holding tank that must be periodically pumped by the homeowner's association. Carlyon Beach is roughly 20 minutes or 15 miles from downtown Olympia.
